Welcome from our President - Santa Clarita Koi & Water Garden Club

Welcome from our PresidentHappy New Year, old and new!  Welcome to the Santa Clarita Koi and Water Garden Club's brand new website! My name is Julie Cressall, and I am delighted and honored to be serving as the 2008 new incoming president of this great club! I realize it will be hard to fill Brian Moriguchi's footsteps, but I feel willing and ready for the challenge!

Well, folks, we have mightily enjoyed a warm and festive Holiday season, complete with our fun Holiday Party with the "white elephant " gift exchange. Now, it's time to start anew, afresh, planning our year, stating our goals, and accomplishing those tasks necessary to lead us to a successful finale.

Now, we look forward to this New Year with good cheer, our spirits eager for new adventures in our shared hobby of pond-keeping in all its aspects. Our club in 2008 thirsts for KNOWLEDGE, to be educated by expert speakers at some of our meetings. We anticipate great FUN...Raffles and Games, a summer Bar-B-Que, our Famous Annual Pond Tour, and field trips and outings to intriquing and beautiful koi/pond places.

We excitedly anticipate the advent of spring, when the dreary cold and storms of winter subside, and all our plants and fish burst forth from the gloom into glorious color, and splendorous activity,  joyous for the warmth and light of the Sun!

But, most of all---we look forward to seeing each other...to working together, to learning, supporting, perhaps at times commiserating, at other moments celebrating, but always communicating, and always sharing...the ups and downs of pond-keeping together.

For that is what I believe a good club is! A group of people with a shared interest bonding together to form a community. Like any community, it will only be as good as its people, its individual members--how active they are, how much they participate and share their knowledge and abilities for the good of all. How willing they are to give of themselves--their time, efforts, and ideas.

I would therefore ask each of you for your support and your input and time to make our club better and better this year, and each year to come! Let's share and enjoy each other's company,
and let's work together actively to plan events and facilitate their fruitful manifestation. Let's enjoy each other's company supremely!

I welcome each and every one of you warmly, and truly look forward to getting to know all of you. I'd like to hear your thoughts and ideas, and I'd like to work right next to each of you willing to help me implement the goals of this club, the supreme ideal being, of course, the successful caretaking of our exquisite living works of art...our gorgeous Koi and their watery homes and friends!

I also hardily welcome those of you browsing our site! If you're in our area, and are interested in feasting on our shared cumulative knowledge of pond-keeping, please come out and join us at a meeting! The dates and locations will be posted on our site, but generally they are always held on the 4th Sunday of the month at 4pm.

Thanks all of you for giving me this wonderful opportunity to share for such a good cause!

Koi & Pond Tip of the Day
August 19th, 2008
How much UV do you need for your pond? Purely for green water eradication, 8-10 watts per 1,000 gallons is usually recommended, but some pond keepers will maintain that, for a reduction of bacterial levels, this can be increased threefold to 30 watts.
